More than one million people in the Netherlands take part in Ramadan each year, yet this important cultural moment is rarely reflected in mainstream media. Together with Magnum, we set out to highlight the beauty of this tradition. Ramadan is a time centered around reflection, connection, and the joy of coming together after sunset. By focusing on the iftar, the shared meal that breaks the fast, we created a concept that naturally aligns with Magnum’s philosophy of enjoying life’s small pleasures. The result was an authentic celebration of community.

Bringing the iftar experience to life with Ruba Zai.
To bring the concept to life, we partnered with Ruba Zai, who hosted an intimate iftar evening with ten of her closest friends at her home. Magnum supported the evening in a subtle way, allowing the moment to feel natural and personal. This approach encouraged genuine storytelling and organic content from the guests. The initiative resonated strongly online and reached over1 million people, proving that authenticity drives meaningful engagement.

To add a creative and culturally inspired dessert moment, we invited @bysoor, a henna artist and baker known for her detailed designs and sweets. During the iftar evening, she decorated Magnum ice creams with henna-inspired chocolate patterns using stencils, edible glitters and gold elements, turning the dessert into a shareable moment.
