De Oost tells a powerful and often unspoken story from Dutch history. With this campaign, we set out to move beyond awareness and spark reflection, conversation and personal connection. By inviting people to explore multiple perspectives and share their own stories, we turned the film into a cultural moment, encouraging a new generation to engage with a complex past in an open and meaningful way.

Multiple perspectives that bring history closer.
We built the campaign around the idea that history is never one-sided. By combining diverse viewpoints with intimate, personal stories from actors with ties to Indonesia, we made a complex topic human, emotional and relatable. This created space for reflection, dialogue and a deeper understanding of the Indonesian War of Independence.
